Dehydrated Apple Experiment

Back in September, when we did a week on apples I had several different "versions" of apples for the kiddos to taste.  Such as apple sauce, apple butter, apple chips, dehydrated apples etc.

Well, for snack today I pulled back out the dehydrated apples and my fours remembered an experiment we did with them.   We dropped a few pieces of the dried apple into our water cup and watched it re-hydrate.

One of my kiddos announced:  "I'm going to do an experiment.  Remember Ms. Sara?"  And he dropped a handful of dried apples into his water cup.

Another kiddo joined in and sprinkled a few in her cup.  Then she added a Teddy Graham.  "He floats like the apples!"  The first kiddo took this as a challenge and crushed up one of his Teddy Grahams and told her, "Tiny pieces sink."  And they did.  Then he tasted some of his apple pieces and declared:  "Dry apple turned back into an apple!"  Great experimenting guys!
