Learning Station - Numeral Match

This was a great activity for counting and for putting numerals together with their name.
This was a good activity to see if kiddos know their numerals and to check with basic counting.

Learning Station - Writing No and On

Since we have already done the letter Oo, we just added our new Nn to it!  Great writing practice.

We had letter Oo week 2 weeks ago, so this learning station was a perfect use of our skills.

Xx Week and Pirate Week

Welcome to an eXciting Xx week!

Xx Items - A kiddo brought in some cereal boxes and we found the letter X on one of them!  We also found Xs on our shoes!

Circle Time - We made lots of Xs with our fingers and arms, legs and body!

Snack - Tasty Xs - Carrots and pretzels.  We even tried some silly Xs with apples and tomatoes.

X Family - We created our family from Xs!  The preschoolers loved this and carefully made each family member.  The 3 year old class - well, we were glad to get an X person made.  Ha!

Backyard Chalk City - Complete with dinosaur attack!

Arggh!  It be pirate day!  Shiver me timbers!

Xx Clothing - Holy cow!  A kiddo found a shirt with an X on it!  Great job!

Pirate Gear - Don't we look nice and piratey?!

Spy Glass - Super quick and easy:  tp roll, small plastic cup with bottom cut off and then just tape the cup on!

Class of Pirates - Arrgh!

Journal Time - A kiddo found an X with our scissors!

Free Play - Pirate Ship - The kiddos wrapped yarn around the overturned coffee table to complete the ship.  We also pulled out our big world map and post it notes.
The coffee table ship was kinda small, so we dumped out the dress up bin to create another ship.

A few kiddos just LOVED playing with and knotting the yarn.

Pirate Map - X Stamps - The kiddos needed a map while sailing the 7 seas.

Tissue Treasure Boxes - The kiddos decorated their treasure boxes with enthusiasm.  While they munched snack, I hurried outside to hide their boxes and mark their maps.

Their treasure box was just a tissue box wrapped with brown craft paper.  The extra bit of paper I cut off to become their map.

Here's the map!

Mini Treasure Chests - I figured the kiddos needed some jewels, so I pulled out crystal beads and these mini chests.  I found the mini chests at the party store, Zurchers.

Treasure Hunt - The kiddos were so fast I didn't get very many pictures!  They were excited to find that their treasure was tasty!  (Pirate Booty and Oreos)

Invitation to Play - Toddlers - We pushed around hunks of "snow" today.

Pirate Ship - Just a coffee cozy, a cup and a few masts.  Pretty fun.

Learning Station - Pirate Treasure Box

Our pirates used tongs to put "jewels" into the treasure boxes.

Learning Station - Spyglass Abc Hunt

The kiddos used their spyglasses to hunt for letters around the yard.  Once they found one, they ran it back to me, told me the letter and then headed off to hunt some more.

After we found all the letters, we put them in order to make sure we found them all.  Good thing we did too, because we had to go back on our hunt a couple of times to find a missing letter!

Learning Station - Pivot Xx

We made an X that can do jumping jacks like us!  I simply cut strips of paper, pre-poked a hole for a brad then let the kiddos put them together.

The kiddos really got a kick out of this!   x...i...x...i...

Oo Week

Letter Bracelets - Oo - This year the kiddos will start each letter week by coloring a letter bracelet.  It's a fun way to introduce our letter and to begin talking about what wonderful things begin with our letter.
I got these bracelets as a free printable from this blog:  Here!

Grumpy Owl - We decided my owl was grumpy because he got woken up during the day.  The kiddos all decided to make happy owls instead.  Groovy!

This activity was great cutting practice for all the kiddos, especially my new class of three year olds...

Snack - Oreos - Why not!

Outside - This week it's Outside instead of backyard.  This week we have greatly enjoyed water color painting.  Painting the toys, the table, the porch, ourselves....

Science - Oatmeal Cookies - We did our first bit of yummy baking of the school year.  The kiddos took turns adding ingredients, tasting, smelling, scooping...

Geo Blocks - I was so excited to walk into our thrift store and find this big bin of geo blocks for $4!!!  Wahoo!  We are going to love these!
Mud Table - Oh yeah!

Chalk Town - In my three year old class, I have a kiddo who really just wants to play with the cars and that's it.  Today we drew a town for him to drive around while we were playing outside...

Garage Monster - The kiddos were checking out the Halloween decorations (we got started a bit early this year).

O Ring Ornament - The kiddos did a great job making these!

Snack - Olives -

Preschool Monster - The kiddos realized that our class monster makes the letter O with his mouth.
