Learning Station - Shape Unicorn

Oh my, these were fun today.  The kiddos worked long and hard and they turned out super cute!  I got the original idea from this site:  Here.
This kiddo told me that her unicorn was sitting down.

Qq Week and Easter

Welcome to a quirky Qq week!  This is a short week for us, because we have spring break.

Journal Time - Qq - quarter rubbing, Q - Tip ...

Circle Time - Quilt - We talked about what a quilt is and how it is put together.

Q -Tip Art - The kiddos tried their hand at building structures with the Q-tips.  That took a bit more patience then they had, so then they turned to Q-tip art.
Youngsters art...

Chick in a Egg - The kiddos chose out the pieces to create their baby chick, and I glued them together for them with the hot glue.  I saw this idea on this blog:  Here.

Surprise Egg! - The kiddos painted an Easter egg, then we hid a bunny on the inside!  Surprise!  I saw this idea on this blog:  Here.

Egg Hunt - The kiddos hid a bunch of eggs, then spread out to find them.  Ha!  We were still finding them the rest of class time.

Art Box - The kiddos always love scrounging in the art box...

Learning Station - Open and Shut - Eggs - Toddlers

The kiddos were delighted to play with plastic eggs.  They were extra excited when they realized there was a goldfish or two in each egg!  Bonus!
Love those little fingers hard at work!

Learning Station - Easter Alphabet Hunt

In the snow!  Brrr!  We were surprised with some spring snow yesterday!  The kiddos hunted for the alphabet.  Letters were written on milk jug lids.

Once we got inside and warmed up a bit and the snow had melted off our letters it was time to put them in order.  The kiddos could work as a team or by them self.

Learning Station - Quilting

During circle time the kiddos looked at a quilt.  We noticed the stitches and how different fabrics were sewed together.  Then for this station, the kiddos practiced quilting.

The kiddos did a great job.  It was a wonderful fine motor skill.  I pre-poked the holes in the plates, I think that helped a lot!

Gg Week

It is a grand and glorious week for the letter Gg!

Feely Bag - Gg - Gorilla, grasshopper, giraffe, goat, Grover, gold.

Journals - Gg - "Go!" - cars on a road, gold, googley eyes, green, leprechaun feet.

Gray, green and Goofy - This kiddos was so excited to show me he came prepared for Gg week today by his outfit choice.  Nicely done!

Science - Grow! - Today we planted bulbs in cups with rocks so we can watch them grow!  We're hoping to see some roots by next week.  We talked about what a plant needs to grow (water, sunshine, soil, and love).  We talked about why Ms. Sara had chosen rocks instead of soil (so we can see the roots), we're hoping our experiment works!

Snack - Pi Day - Today is Pi day! (3.14...)  A mom brought us a yummy pie to celebrate!  It was delicious!  Thanks so very much!

Gingerbread Houses - A few weeks back as we were discussing upcoming letters, the kiddos suggested that we make gingerbread houses. Great idea!

*Warning:  For better or worse, Ms. Sara hot glued the graham cracker structure together.  This was actually a good thing.  It saved a lot of time and tears.  The kiddos were able to decorate and munch and lick, but they knew to not eat the graham crackers.

Bubble Gum - Gum is a great Gg word!  Today we chewed and chewed and tried blowing bubbles.

Science - Shrinking Leprechaun Hats - The kiddos decorated a hat (Styrofoam cup) then we placed them in the oven (at 250 degrees for about 10 minutes).  We kept checking them and they started shrinking down to leprechaun size!

I saw this idea on this blog:  Here.
 Watching them shrink...
 Here they are all done!

Green Pom Pom Bracelets - We decided we needed some protection from pesky leprechauns, so we made a magic bracelet.
The kiddos laced pom poms onto elastic cord using a needle.
I tied a knot and put super glue on it.  The glue needed to dry for a few minutes.

Leprechaun Traps - The kiddos have been so excited to create leprechaun traps.  We pulled out the creation bin along with some green and gold and glittery bits to attract the rascals.

Snack - Green Cream Cheese?! - It seems like the leprechauns have started early this week!

Rainbow Necklace - Tasty - The kiddos laced fruit loops to make a wonderful St. Patrick's Day necklace.

Shamrock Buddies - Toddlers - The kiddos decorated a St. Patrick's Day friend.

Dapper - This kiddos showed up on St. Patrick's day all prepared.

Follow That Rainbow - Our Leprechaun treasure hunt, here we go!  Those pesky leprechauns had the rainbow string all around Ms. Sara's house and into the backyard!
A bag of Lucky Charms for each kiddo was our treasure!

Garbage Trucks - On Tt week they were trash trucks.  Ha!
