Week 2 of Halloween Fun!

Hello Halloween Week 2!  We are so excited that Halloween is Saturday!

Monster House - Here is the house with the eyes glowing...

Circle Time - Halloween Feely Bag 2 -

Journal Time - Pumpkins -

Ghost Finger Portrait - I was donated mini black canvases.  We decided to make fingerprint ghosts.
The preschoolers drew their own ghost faces.  They turned out super cute!
I think these would make super cute snowmen too.  Just paint the canvas blue instead.  Add a carrot nose...

Pumpkin Picking - The pumpkins have been lining our porch for weeks.  The kiddos have been anxiously awaiting the day they get to pick and paint their pumpkin.

Pumpkin Floating and Pumpkin Washing - The kiddos LOVED doing this.  I should have left even more time for them to work.

Pumpkin Books - The kiddos discovered some basic facts about their pumpkins:  weight, girth, float or sink, shape, stem or no stem...

Pumpkin Painting - Lots of paint and then we sprinkled glitter on the pumpkins to make them extra special.

Painted Pumpkins - These sure looked great on the porch this morning.

Science - Mummy Wrap - We talked about what mummies really are and though they're real, they can't walk around.  I showed them a few pictures of mummies in museums.  Then we wrapped a few of our toys up like mummies.

Science - Person Mummy - A couple of kiddos volunteered to be the mummy.  We wrapped them with tp.

Paper Plate Mummy - This was a bit silly, but cute!  We gave our mummy eyes, then we "wrapped" it by using masking tape.

Snack - Mummy Dogs (or Mummy Cheese sticks) - The kiddos used their expert wrapping skills to create their spooky snack.

Backyard - Raking Leaves - The kiddos were super excited to create a pile of leaves to jump in.  They worked hard, but we just don't quite have enough leaves yet.  Soon!

Halloween Costumes! - It's party time!

Bat Wings - Here are the younger kiddos flying around the backyard with their wings!

Stickered Pumpkins - The toddlers decorated their pumpkins simply.

Egg Carton - The toddlers enjoyed moving around these eggs.  Back and forth and ...

Haunted Houses -  Using Dial soap boxes and an knife, I quickly created these houses for the kiddos to decorate.  The roof is a 3x5 card hot glued on.  The white pasta is bones from the graveyard.  Best beware!

Halloween Costume Day - I love this day.  The kiddos are so cute in their costumes.

Learning Station - Shape Witch

The kiddos used shapes to create a witch.  I had the older kiddos create their own face.  The younger ones, I think I'll provide the shapes to make a face.

This kiddo cut the hair thinner.  And this kiddo snipped their hair to bits.  It's all good.

The kiddos worked on cutting skills today as they snipped strips of orange paper to glue onto their pumpkin.

Learning Station - Letter Match

The kiddos matched a letter from the pumpkin bucket to a letter on their paper, then stamped it with the Halloween stamps.

Week 1 of Halloween Fun!

Welcome to week 1 of Halloween fun!  We'll review our letters and enjoy some spooky fun.

Outside - The kiddos discovered the spooky eyes on the house and the ghosts in the trees and the spider webs.

Circle Time - Ghost Story - The momma ghost goes grocery shopping, but before she leaves she warns her kiddo ghosts not to eat anything that's not white.  Of course they do, and they turn colors.  When momma ghost returns, she has to give her kiddos something white to eat to fix them.  The kiddos came up with all sorts of crazy things to eat.  We told the story over and over again.

Circle Time - Halloween Feely Bag 1

Cheese Cloth Ghosts - Day 1 - Today the kiddos soaked their cloth in liquid starch, then arranged it over their balloon.  Now they are drying.
Day 2 - We added faces today.  They turned out pretty cute, although I think we should have done a couple layers of the cloth to make them stronger.

Napkin Ghosts - I love these traditional ghosts! The kiddos flew their ghosts around the preschool.

Snack - Ghost Bananas - Oooo...  Mini chocolate chips.

Zip Line Ghosts - We took our napkin ghosts, put a paper clip on them and zipped them down our line.  Great fun!

Dress Up - Halloween - The kiddos were excited to find witch hats and a cauldron in the dress up box.

Monster House - Now it has a mouth!

Circle Time - Continuing our Halloween "study" we learned about spiders today.  We talked about their anatomy:  2 body parts, 8 legs, 1 to 8 eyes, feel vibrations and taste with their feet, two basic kinds of spiders: web builders and hunters ...

Science - Spider Dinner - We talked about how and what spiders eat.  Web building spiders wait for dinner to land on their web, they feel the vibrations with their feet, zip out and wrap them up and bite them with poison.  Their poison immobilized them and turns their innards to soup.  When the spider is ready to eat, they simply suck up their dinner.  Slurp.  The kiddos tried their hand had wrapping up dinner....
 Nice wrapping...

Spider Web - Craft Sticks - Next we tried building a web.  Since we aren't as gifted as spiders, we used sticks to help get the shape of our web.We even had some flies to catch in our webs.

Milk Jug Lid Spiders - Ok, these perhaps look more like aliens then spiders, but they were fun to make and they sat well on our spider webs.

Web Rescue - While we were eating snack, a spider caught a few of our stuffed animals in it's web.  We had to go to the rescue, but we needed to be careful.  We didn't want to touch any of the web (yarn) or the spider would feel our vibrations and get us too!

After a few rescues, the kiddos decided to add the the webbed hallway.

The kiddos also grabbed a few more stuffed animals to wrap up and trap in the web.

Tp Bats - For the toddlers, I prepped the bats fully.
The preschoolers created their own wings...

Bat Wings - Made from a drawstring trash bag, so very fun.  They fly great outside!
