A week on the 'Gingerbread Man'

Welcome to December!  This week we are learning with the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'.  Should be a yummy way to start our month of Christmas festivities.  I also set up our classroom Christmas tree.  The kiddos will hang the ornaments they make up on the tree and then take them home before Christmas.

Wooly Willy - Gingerbread Man - I was excited to find this little guy at Michael's.  The kiddos enjoyed dressing and decorating the gingerbread man.

Santa Countdown - The kiddos created a Santa with no beard!  Each morning when they wake up (or each evening as they go to bed) they are to glue a cotton ball on Santa's beard.  When his beard is full, then it'll be Christmas.  Note:  I put a couple extra cotton balls in their bag, in case one or two get lost or glued on early.
 The poem reads:

Santa’s beard is very bare.
On his chin, there is no hair.
So each day,
Add one puff so white.
And when they’re all on,
He’ll come that night!
I found this poem at:  this blog.

Farm - I pulled out our farm so the kiddos could re-enact the gingerbread story with the gingerbread man running away from all the different farm animals.

Cinnamon Painting - The kiddos got to paint a gingerbread using brown paint mixed with cinnamon.  Mmm, the classroom smells great!  Tomorrow they'll get to decorate their gingerbread man and hang it on the class Christmas tree.

Cereal Box Gingerbread Ornaments - After the gingerbread men dried, the kiddos got to decorate them.  I pulled out bits of this and that...

Video - I showed this little video to the kiddos today.  So cute!  It's based on the book by Richard Scarry.

A Very Snowy Day - We were excited to have a lot of snow today!  It's still fall and not quite Christmas, but with this snow, it's beginning to feel much more like the season!
