A bit more with 'The Gingerbread Man'

The kiddos were excited to hang their first ornament on the class Christmas tree.  Their cereal box gingerbread men turned out super cute!

Circle Time - Today we acted out the story of The Gingerbread Man using our class finger puppet.  The kiddos enjoyed making him run (with their fingers) away from the various characters who were trying to eat him.

Fluffy Candy Canes - I love this activity!  Simple but cute!  The kiddos got all gluey and cottony while doing this project, but we had fun! - I neglected to get a final picture of the project, but you get the idea.

Baking Gingerbread Men - Yummers!  The kiddos helped me roll out and cut our cookies.  Then we popped them in the oven for a while.  We made sure that we didn't peak early so that they wouldn't jump out of the oven and run away.   There was a lot of tasting the dough, then there was a lot of "run, run as fast as you can..."

Finger Puppet Gingy - The kiddos got to decorate their own finger puppets with puff-paint.  They'll need to dry for a bit before they can hop up and start running.

I cut a basic gingerbread shape from felt (left) then cut a second pair of legs (right) to make the pocket for the kiddos fingers to stick down in.  Finally I did a quick button hole stitch around the legs of the gingerbread man. Taa daa!

Cereal Box Trees - Today we started another project.  We painted triangles of cereal boxes green.  Then we got to roll balls with paint on them to decorate our trees.  I think marbles would have worked better, but I couldn't find mine, so we ended up using ping pong balls.

We decorated our trees and they look fabulous!

Bean Bin - I tossed in a handful of jingle bells.  The kiddos have enjoyed fishing them out.  One kiddo put them in a small container and enjoyed jingling them.  Another kiddo brought them to the kitchen to make jingle bell soup.  Mmmm yummers!
