A week about BATS!

This week we are learning all about bats.

Circle Time - Today we talked about what bats eat (bugs, fruit, nectar), when they are up and about (night time), that they are furry (mammals) and that they fly!  There may have been some other stuff in there, but that was the gist.  Ha!

Halloween Art Table - I pulled out these punches and stamps for the kiddos to enjoy...

Bean Bin Halloween Style - I've had the bean bin put away for a while, so the kiddos were super excited to see it out today and with Halloween stuff in it!

Glove Finger Puppet Bats - These are one of my favorite things to make this week.  The body is just the finger cut off one of those inexpensive stretchy gloves.  The kiddos had so much fun flying their finger bats all over the room today.
We talked about how bats are awake at night (like owls) and sleep during the day.  So as the kiddos flew around the room with their finger bats, we turned off the lights.  As soon as the lights came on, the kiddo bats found a cave to sleep in (under the tables).

We talked about how bats wrap their wings around themselves when they sleep, so one of my girls wrapped the pink wings of her finger bat around it to sleep.  Also, we talked about how bats hang by their feet when they sleep, so one of my boys is under the table with his feet up (on the cave roof) sleeping.  Ha!

Frankenstein Plates - "Friend good." - Today we made these cute monsters.  So quick and easy.  These are what my three year olds did today, my fours will create them tomorrow.
