A Week on Princesses and Knights

One of my girls requested a week on the theme of Princess.  One of my boys quickly added Knights to it.  I figured that was a good compromise.  So two days on princesses and 2 days on knights.

The Mattress Stack -  Today we are doing 'The Princess & The Pea'.  The kiddos created a bed with the pea under a huge stack of mattresses.  -  I got this idea off this cute blog.

Painting Peas - The kiddos painted a wooden ball to be their own personal pea.  They really loved that they got a pea of their own and we used it later...

Magnetic Peas - Ok, not quite peas, but spheres!  The kiddos enjoyed these magnetic spheres with our magnet wands and a cookie sheet.

Pea Investigations - The kiddos got to taste the sugar snap peas during snack.  Then we did an investigation.  They got to open them up and count how many peas were inside (some had 4, others 5).  The kiddos also took a close look at things with their magnifying glass.

Pea Pillow Game - With our personal peas all dried, we tried the test in the book.  If we stuck our pea under a bunch of pillows, could we feel it?!  ...  Some kiddos could and some kiddos couldn't.  Hmmmmm.

Crown Jewels - I asked for some crowns at Burger King last weekend, they shared nicely.  The kiddos got to glue jewels onto their crowns.  Here are Nico and Janame working.  Ilse was finishing her book and Greta, Jasmine and Charly were cleaning up all the toys they got out to play house.  So the boys got a head start.

Princess Slime - Ooblek at it's best!  We added food coloring and glitter.
