Homemade Chunky Applesauce

To start off our week studying apples, we made some very delicious applesauce.  It tastes like apple pie without the crust.

5 cups peeled, cored, sliced apples
1/4 cup (or less) sugar
1 TBS cornstarch
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Stir all ingredients together, then pour into a pot and simmer for about 20 minutes or until desired tenderness.  Mmmm!  So very tasty!

The kiddos used my "apple-peeler-corer-slicer" (from Pampered Chef) to get the apples ready.   They loved this part of the job!

Then they carefully cut the apples into smaller chunks with plastic knives.  Some of our chunks were big, some were small.  No worries, they all tasted delicious!
