A week with Dr. Seuss

Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday!  If he were still alive, he would be 111 years old.  So we are learning with his books this week.  Our letter is Cc for the Cat in the Hat.

Snow! - This morning we got snow and the trash truck, how cool is that!?

Green Eggs & Ham - The kiddos were surprised to discover green eggs with their journals today.

The Lorax - Mustaches - The kiddos made a mustache, then we watched the old video of the book.

The Lorax Scene - After the video the kiddos created a scene with truffula trees.

Cat in the Hat Dress Up - We read the book during snack time, then we got to create our own dress ups.  The kiddos wrapped tape around the red cup to create the white stripes.  Then Ms. Sara helped them get all put together...

Cat in the Hat Snack - String Cheese! -

Listening Walk Wheels - During circle time we read Mr. Brown can Moo!, we made all the sounds.  Now it was our turn to listen for sounds.

First we listed all the sounds we could think of that we might hear outside...Then we set to work creating our wheels.
Once outside, when we heard one of our sounds, we would fold down that segment.

Our Listening Walk -  Right away we started hearing sounds ... birds, drips, feet, cars ....
Crunching snow feet was a great sound...
Then we headed down the path to listen for some more sounds and found footprints.
We found some ice that was super fun to break and crunch.

Fish Book - After reading One Fish, Two Fish, we decided to make our own fish book.

Of course we munched on some Swedish Fish while we worked.
Here are the books from the Preschoolers:
I loved how this kiddo had a beard and glasses for their old fish.

One Fish, Two Fish - Toddlers - We read this book during circle time (well, at least the beginning part).  We talked about colors and counted our fish too.  The kiddos glued them on and added faces.

Journal Time - Hop on Pop-corn - We decided to hop some pop-corn into our mouths instead of hopping on our Pops!
