Halloween Day and Hh Week

Happy Halloween! - How fun when it actually falls on a preschool day!

Costumes - I went for the traditional witch costume.  One of these years I'm going to have to shake it up more.
Here's Waldo looking for more classmates to arrive.

Craft Stick Frankenstein - The kiddos put a quick coat of green paint on their monster.  Once that dried (which was quick because we used water colors), they added hair and faces.  Super cute.  I Hot glued the sticks together.  I added a smaller craft stick across the back to help stabilize.

I saw this adorable idea on this blog:  Here!

Witch Fingers - Bread Sticks - The kiddos formed some lovely fingers.  We enjoyed them for snack.  They needed a bit of butter and garlic on them thoughP.S. Don't add the candy corn until AFTER you bake it.  Silly me!

Moon Bat Painting - We also needed to finish up our moon paintings from last week.  They look awesome with the bats on them!  Wahoo!

Ghost Painting - This was just a station set up with black paper and white paint.  The kiddos made some cute ghosts.  Some look rather squid like, ha!

Costumed Kiddos - Heading inside for our Halloween fun!

Hello Hands - The letter Hh is very friendly.  It likes to say:  howdy, hello, hi and even how are you?!  So we made a friendly self portrait.  Their arms have a brad at the bottom so they can truly wave!

Science - Hot Cocoa - The kiddos and I tried an experiment today.  We were curious in which temperature our hot cocoa mix would dissolve the best.  We tried cold water, warm and hot.  Then we also tried cold milk.

Here's cold and hot water.  Yikes!  The cold water never quite mixed together.
Here is the cold milk.  He stirred and stirred, it came together like when you make chocolate milk from a powder.  Then of course we made some regular hot cocoa to enjoy!
I got this idea from this blog:  Here!

Snack - Hummus - YumMost everyone liked it.

Our House - The kiddos enjoyed putting together a simple shape house.  We added their address.  A few of the kiddos improved their houses...
Wings and then a night sky around the house.  Also doors that open.

Free Play - Heart punch and some additional hammering (from the learning station) on our big box.
They even cut a trap door...

Hula Hooping - These kiddos have skills!

Hive Printing - The kiddos painted, then printed to create a lovely hive home for some bees.
Here they are printed!

Snack - Honey and Hot Cocoa! - Yum!  We chatted for a few minutes about bees and how they make honey.  Then we enjoyed some of their hard work on a piece and bread.   And the hot cocoa came back by request from Wednesday.

Bee Hive - We had to finish our hives and create some bees to live in them.

This kiddo made thrones (the hearts) for her king and queen bees.
This kiddo made anatomically correct bees (3 body parts, wings, antannae...).  Wahoo!
This kiddo made eggs with his bee...
