A week with Trash Trucks

This week we are learning with the book and Scholastic video of Trashy Town...

Tape Road, Trash Truck Route - As the kiddos were playing, I began creating a tape road neighborhood that the kiddos could drive through and pick up trash.  The kiddos were super curious, so I put them to work adding buildings and stores (blocks) to our neighborhood.  Once our neighborhood was complete, I added a large bag of trash for each kiddo to pick up.  Then the game began.  They chose a truck to drive through the neighborhood.

Once they found a bag of trash, they picked it up and drove their truck back.
Inside their trash bag they found a few snacks.  As they munched on them they created a shape trash truck, then glued their snack trash to it.
Here are completed trash trucks, with snack trash.

Envelope Trash Truck – I had the kiddos draw a trash person driving the truck, then we glued the cab onto the envelope.  The kiddos decided if their trash truck was going to be a top loader or a back loader, they added wheels and then they collected trash!
After their trash truck was full, I added tape in a few places so that they could open and shut the trash truck multiple times.
Here is a top loader truck.
Here is a kiddo picking up trash along the tape road town.

Trash Truck Videos - Ms. Sara found some videos on You Tube of trash trucks smashing up couches and even a car!  The kiddos were pretty enthralled.  Here are the links:

A Cute Mouse - In our book Trashy Town, there are two mice who tell the story.  So today we made a mouse to go with our trash trucks.  Here's my mouse:
 Here's a couple of the kiddo's mice...
I created a mouse door for my mouse so he could live in the preschool.  Here one of the kiddos has her mouse at the door, coming by for a visit.

Science - Rolling Experiment - I set up this lovely ramp for the kiddos to roll things down it.  Of course the cars were the first and favorite things to roll.  We also looked around to see what else might roll, what might scoot and what might get stuck.

Cars and Crayons - Two favorite things.  We drew a little town that we could drive on with our cars.  We added houses, stores and a gas station.
