Yy Week

Yy Week! - This week was a bit trick to find Yy crafts I liked.  The first day we did a lot with yarn.  That's always a fun medium to work in.


Book - This is a fun story:

Feely Bag - Yy Week - Yoda, yellow, yolk, yarn, yak, yo-yo.

Circle Time - Yoga - The kiddos and I enjoyed a bit of yoga this morning.


Journal Time - Yy Week - They taped in a piece of yarn, and some yellow crepe paper, and Yoda!

 

Yarn - Glorious Yarn! - I have been fortunate in my donors!  Look at all this fabulous yarn!

Yarn Cutting - The youngsters (3 year olds) LOVED just cutting the yarn.  They snipped and snipped and snipped.  I sent all their pieces home with them in envelopes to show their families!

Yarn Wrapped Butterflies - Since the kiddos were now experts at wrapping yarn, they did it again to create butterflies.

Set up:  I hot glued the craft sticks and created the antanea and middle section.

Fuzzily Wuzzlies - Yarn wrapping again.  The kiddos wrapped yarn around a tp roll, then I slipped the yarn off and tied a knot around the middle and they trimmed them!
A couple of the kiddos made houses for their critters with their tp rolls.

 

Yo-yo - The kiddos and I watched some videos on youtube of some amazing yo-yo artists.  Then we made our own paper yo-yo.

Tasting Experiment - Yum or Yuck - The kiddos tasted and made a mark on their paper.  We tried:  yogurt, pomegranate, pear, kiwi, olives, cauliflower, and sour patch candies.

Poker Chip Cookies - This kiddos loves to line up all the poker chips on baking sheets like he's making cookies.


Star Wars - We have some fans in the class and Yoda starts with Yy, so we decided to do a Star Wars day.

Storm troopers, Star Wars pjs, DarthVadar and a TIE fighter!

 

 

Tp Yoda - Perfect for Yy week!  We made this fabulous yoda.  As set up I made the little robe from construction paper, tied it with yarn and dented the head to create his ears.  Then we added a glow stick as his light saber.  I saw this idea:  Here - But I have to say I like mine better, but I was grateful for the idea.

 

Light Saber - No Yy there, but if we're doing Yoda, we have to have our own light sabers!  These are paper towel tubes with duct and electrical tape at the bottom.


Box Fun - Toddlers - The kiddos helped design a airplane with special buttons that do things like shoot marshmallows and give us ice cream cones!  Yum!

 

Circle Time - Star Wars Style - Everyone wanted to use their light sabers to help with their jobs...

Snack - A bit of yummy fun.

"Cello Wars" - Piano Guys - The kiddos LOVED this video.
