Aa Week

Welcome to our amazingly awesome Aa week!

Circle Time - 'Preschool Airlines' - As the kiddos came downstairs and hung up their things, they received their boarding pass.  Once they found their seats, they munched on pretzels while the other passengers were getting settled.  We did our whole circle time on the airplane.  I found a template online for a boarding pass.

Feely Bag - Aa week - Apple, airplane, ant, ape (gorilla), alligator, acorn.

Journal Time - Mini Paper Airplane - The kiddos glued in a mini airplane.  I folded them an extra one to zip around the room with.

Boxed Airplane - I set out this big box and the crayons and let the kiddos design and color their airplane.

The kiddos quickly found that as they ran the crayon back and forth across the cardboard - a fabulous sound came about!  Giggles!

Art Box - Stickers and Stamps - All my spare stickers and any freebie stuff in the mail goes into the art box for the kiddos to use.  They were super excited to find whole new sheets of stickers today!

Clothes Pin Airplanes - The kiddos took quite a bit of time painting their airplanes.  I hot glued the planes together earlier.  To craft sticks, a clothes pin and a mini craft stick.  Super fast and super cute.

The water color paints were perfect, because they dried quickly, so the kiddos could fly their planes around after snack.

Balsa Wood Glider - The kiddos gently put together a glider, then flew it around the room.  I found these at the dollar store.

Backyard - Paper Airplanes - Yeah for warmer weather!  The wind was helpful with our airplanes too.  Ms. Sara folded a bunch of paper airplanes so we could have a "battle" in the backyard.  We also enjoyed more leaves to rake and jump into!  Thank you wind!
We did have a slight problem between the kiddos raking and the kiddos flying.  The airplanes kept going in leaves.
 Aftermath...

Snow and Shoveling - Wahoo for our first snow finally!
Experiment ... will the sun melt the snow we threw in the street?
Stomping the snow.  Squish, squish ... splat!
Experiment:  It worked!  The sun DID melt the snow in the street!

Journal Time - Apples - Digging through my cupboards, I found a baggie of extra stamped apples from last year.  The kiddos glued one in their journal and added a stem and leaf.  They also punched arrows and glued those in.

Science - Apple Stars - Youngsters - The kiddos were excited to learn that a star hides in every apple.  We chatted a bit about the seed pockets that make up the star and hold the seeds.

Apple Timeline - These turned out so cute!  The kiddos did a great job on them!  I got the poem and general idea at this source:  Here.

Science - Apple Baking - First we peeled, cored and sliced our apples.  Then we chopped them into bits.  Today we made chunky homemade applesauce (yum!) and apple muffins!
Regrettably we were so busy munching our yummy creations that I forgot to get a photo of them.  Drat!

Felt Apple Sewing - The kiddos sewed around their little apple, then we stuffed them like a pillow.  Always an adventure sewing with little ones, but no one got poked and we only had a few crazy knots!

I prepped the sewing project this far:  sewing the tops with the stem and leaf.

Paper Plate Apple - Toddlers - The kiddos glued tissue paper bits onto their apple.  Then they could use the worm I made them or their finger (as a worm) to munch their apple.

Paper Airplanes - Toddlers - Because of the turn in the weather, we did our paper airplane war indoors.  One of the kiddos created this design with the paper airplanes.  Pretty cool.

Journal Time - Aa - Aliens! - The kiddos created super cute aliens for their journals today.

Abracadabra! - A bit of magic fun!  The kiddos learned how to make a pencil wiggle and how to make a nickle disappear!  -  Just simple tricks for little hands I found on the internet.  They had fun with it!
