Learning Station - Abc Knock Down

The kiddos tried to knock down a letter of the alphabet with a ball.  They (mostly) told me the letter name and or sound when they did so.
Ha!  Some how the dinosaurs got involved!

The kiddos enjoyed finding letters they knew and talking about the colors.  We also spelled our names.

Learning Station - Huff and Puff

For Hh week, the kiddos used the Hh sound to huff their cotton ball across the table.  It was a bit tricky, but fun!

Learning Station - First Letter Draw - Preschoolers

The kiddos thought of 5 things that start with the first letter of their name and then drew them.
These half size clipboards make it extra fun.

Learning Station - Letter Sound Shopping

Using the letters we have studied so far, the kiddos went on a shopping spree throughout the preschool.   They were looking for items that began with each letter.  They had a shopping list and a pen to mark letters off as they found them.  The kiddos did great!  Just a little bit of prompting, and of course they helped each other.
Here is a kiddo at work...

Learning Station - Dot Letters

The kiddos used bingo stamps to fill in the first letter of their name.  Great fine motor for getting the dot of ink right in the circles.  I've used these letters with stickers as well.
I downloaded these letters from:  this blog.

Learning Station - Letter Bucket

I placed in our jack-o-lantern bucket all the letters that we have worked on this year and the first letter of each kiddo's name.  The kiddos drew out a letter, found it on the chart and stamped it with a Halloween stamp.  As they pulled out each letter we talked about what sound it makes.  I was impressed that each of them correctly named their friend's letters.

Learning Station - Dot Letters with Halloween Stickers

Everything is more fun with stickers!  Today the kiddos got to cover the first letter of their name with stickers.  Great fine motor work peeling and sticking!  They really enjoyed all the crazy stickers.  I got the stickers at Michael's for a buck!
I downloaded these letter templates for free from this site.

Learning Station - Letter Quest

Pirates stashed the kiddos initial somewhere in the preschool, but they left them a map.
The kiddos enjoyed finding their letters, then hiding them again.  They also enjoyed a few pirate stamps (these stamps are from Stampin' Up) and a letter X they gleefully stamped all over their map as they re-hid letters.

Learning Station - Letter Tree

The kiddos matched sticker letters with letters on the trunk of their tree.  They told me the name of each letter and we chatted about the sounds they make.

Learning Station - Name Tree Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Each of the kiddos counted the number of letters in their name and then created a coconut tree for those letters to climb up.
I saw this fabulous idea on this blog.

Learning Station - Clothes Pin Words

Our kiddos who are heading to Kindergarten next year are budding readers.  I thought putting together some words would be great practice for them and it was wonderful exposure to such a thing for our younger kiddos.
I worked with each kiddo in turn.  First they picked a word card.  Then older kiddos told me the letter sounds and sounded out the letters together to read the word.  The younger kiddos worked on naming the letters and reviewing the sounds, then we read the word together.  I'm always amazed when their brains make the connections and they begin reading.

I just wrote letters (upper case on one side and lower on the other) on clothes pins, then drew a quick picture on a 3X5 card.

Learning Station - Letter Sound Slap

Today I was looking to see which letter sounds the kiddos had down and which we need to work some more on.  I tossed magnetic letters out on the carpet and gave the kiddos a fly swatter.  They were to choose a letter, tell it's name and sound and then swat it or slap it with the swatter.  The kiddos rather liked doing this and now I know what we need to work on.  Win-win!  I got the idea on this blog.
