Summer Camp - Dinosaurs
Roooar! It's dinosaur time!
Plastic Dinosaurs - Each kiddo got to pick out a dinosaur. I found these for $1 each at Walmart, in the toy section.
Dinosaur Shirts - A couple of kiddos came decked out and ready for the day ...
Fossilized Dinosaur Eggs - First off we cracked open some ancient eggs to find our very own dinosaur pets!
Dinosaur egg recipes: Here! and Here! and Here! and post: Here!
Dinosaur Caves - We decided our little dinosaur pets needed a safe home. We created a cave as well as a habitat around it that provided water and food for our pet. One kiddo drew a hamburger for his dinosaurs to eat.
I used Dial soap boxes. I buy this kind of soap because it comes in these fabulous boxes!
Dinosaurs Meet Pirates - I'm not sure who won this battle, but it was epic.
Frozen Volcanoes - If you're going to do dinosaurs, you have to include a volcano or two. The kiddos added lava (vinegar) to their (baking soda) volcanoes.
I added enough water to baking soda to create a dough that would form, then hand formed these mini volcanoes, and put them in the freezer. The kiddos used vinegar (dyed with food coloring) for lava. I got the idea from this blog: Here!
Snack - Dinosaur Eggs - Rice Krispie treats with about 8 crushed Oreos formed into eggs. Especially tasty.
Water Play - Always a favorite.
Dinosaur Mud - Chocolate Soap Foam - Ms. Sara created soapy mud for the dinosaurs to play in.
Easy clean up. I got the idea on this blog: Here!
The trucks came out to play and I made several more batches of soap foam, but just used food coloring instead of the cocoa powder.
Jello Tar Pits - Oh No! - There are dinosaurs trapped! We must free them, but how? Grab a spoon...
The kiddos LOVED this. They ate the Jello for a bit, then just had fun scooping and stomping and etc. I saw this idea on this blog: Here!

Summer Camp - Fairies
What a wonderful day full of fairy fun. My neighbor told me she was surprised and enchanted to look out her window and see fairies flying around the yard.
Fairy Mud - I wasn't sure how our little fairies would feel about this squelchy mud. It is made up of: ivory soap flakes, toilet paper and warm colored water...oh and lots of glitter! One of the fairies jumped right in and helped me mix it, the other fairies kept their distance.
Ha. Nice, fairy pink hands! Here is the blog I found the recipe on: Here!
We took our fairy mud to the backyard where it got a bit more play.
Fairy Nails - Fairies need glitter and color!
Fairy Bells - The fairies painted their bell necklaces with fingernail polish as well. I saw the idea for these necklaces on this blog: Here!
Fairy Dust - The fairies got to create their own mix of dust today. They could choose from various colors of glitter and small jewels.
Fairy Potions - This is always the favorite event. This year I gathered nature bits from around the yard for the girls to add to their potions.
Some fairy mud on the corner of the table.
Snack - We enjoyed fairy dusted apples with our snack today. Yum!
Fairy Crystals - The fairies painted crystals.
These are borax crystals grown on rocks. I boiled water and dissolved 3 TBS. of borax per each 1 cup of boiled water. Then I poured the solution into disposable cups with a rock in the bottom and let them grow for about 24 hours. I used rocks from the dollar store. I got the idea from this blog: Here!
We also painted a bit on the table.
Fairy Houses - Fairy Mud - The afternoon class really enjoyed the fairy mud and created houses for their little fairies. We ended up making another batch. The girls added all the remaining fairy dust ingredients to the mud as well.

Summer Camp - Spies
Spy Camp Mission: To find and rescue Agent Pooh Bear.
Spy Target Practice - As our preschool agents arrived, they worked on their aim, which was an extra tricky task today because of the wind. They were to throw their Frisbee to hit a number and preferably to do so in numerical order. Ha, we ended up with Frisbees going everywhere!
During target practice we discovered this note in the bushes. Our next mission!
Secret Spy Lair Entrance - Using our spy skills we snuck around the yard, making sure we weren't followed so we could slip into our lair unnoticed. (Through the window of the preschool!)
Our Mission - We opened the envelope, there was a puzzle and a clue inside. The agents worked together to solve the puzzle. Then we turned it over to read the message.
Here was our message and our first clue...
Spy Gear - Every spy needs gear! Before we could begin our mission, we had to get ready first.
Communicator Bracelets - **You may need to super glue these, we learned that hot glue does not hold felt to plastic. Drat!** - I used slap bracelets and felt.
Each agent selected buttons to add to their communicator bracelet that were specific to their skill set.
Spy Badge - Each agent readied their badge. I found the template for the badge: HERE!
Disguises - Every spy needs a few disguises. Our agents were equipped with finger mustaches, for the quick disguise and the ever popular glasses disguise.
Clue #1 - The reading of the clue. Fortunately two of our agents are skilled in clue reading. (Clue #1 pictured above with the mission)
Balloon Battle - We deciphered from the clue that Dr. Doom had placed balloon destroyers as the next obstacle in our path. Our agents were quick to hunt down and bash each balloon destroyer, the wind did not make this easy for them. However, with persistence, the task was completed.
- Because of the wind, this is how I corralled the balloons before the kiddos came out. -
The agents carefully gathered all the balloon destroyer bits, so no civilians would be injured.
Clue # 2 - While defeating the balloon destroyers, agents discovered the next clue from Dr. Doom. (Pictured: clue #2 and #3)
Obstacle Course - Before the next leg of our mission, we decided to work on our fitness. Also, the agents used the balloon basher batons to scout the area for any other devious items. (trees, logs, chairs...)
Snack Break - Agents need to keep up their strength by eating healthily. We also worked a bit on our decoding skills. During snack we discovered our next clue from Dr. Doom...in our watermelon!
Clue #3 - The agents were a bit nervous about decoding, but by working together, they completed it.
Oh my!
Decoders - I found this alphabet decoder: Here! Be careful when putting the brad in, I did not put it right in the center of the circles and it made the letters not quite match up. Drat!
Lasers! - We knew the warning against RED could only mean one thing! A laser obstacle...When our agents reached the end of the laser obstacle, there was a dead end! They had to back up to find a door not wired with lasers...
Agent Pooh! - They did it! Our agents found and rescued Agent Pooh Bear!
This was Agent Pooh Bear's note... What's this?! It wasn't a real mission? Just another training! Well done agents! The kiddos really were worried about their favorite preschool stuffy. They were so relieved to find him well and happy.

The wind helped a lot with this activity. The kiddos
hurriedly chased the balloons around the yard and smacked them with the
batons. They popped quickly due to the
grass, which worked perfectly.
