Summer Camp - Woodland Fairies

Woodland Fairy Habitat - Mr. Adam helped me create these fun fairy teepees.  We also created woodland fairies to live inside them.  The kiddos created the habitat...

The maple seeds for the wings and the acorn tops for the hats were just found in our yard.

The glitter stones in the habitats were made with hot glue and glitter, see blog post:  Here

Also in their habitats you'll see left over bits from other projects:  rainbow dyed oatmeal and beans.

Fairy Wings - You've got to have wings when you have a fairy camp!  I found ours at the dollar store (wahoo!).

 

Ribbon and Flower Table - Here the kiddos could create fairy crowns, bracelets,  anklets, and anything else they could conceive...

 

Potions - An all time favorite activity...

Plenty of buckets and containers for pouring and mixing, food coloring to dye the water, dried flower petals and imagination...

 

Snack - Fairy Bread - I butter their bread and the kiddos add the fairy sprinkles.  Another fairy camp favorite.

Summer Camp - Fairies

Painting our Fairy Houses - I made these clay houses last week.  They were a bit of a paint to do.  Once they dried they had a bunch of cracks, so I painted them with white school glue.  I got this idea from this blog:  Here!

The kiddos painted them to get them ready for their fairies.

 

Painting our Fairies - We painted our fairies with glitter nail polish.  The kiddos added faces with Sharpies.  I hot glued felt wings on them .

Time to Decorate our Wings - I made these wings after the idea of the superhero capes from last week.  Nice and simple.  The kiddos chose what fabulous bits they would like on their wings and I hot glued them on. 

 

Fairy Dust Necklaces - The kiddos carefully filled their fairy jars.  Once they were done, Ms. Sara super glued it shut (hopefully). I found these tiny jars in the jewlery department of Hobby Lobby.  So perfect!

We just filled them with regular glitter.

 

Backyard Fairy Snack - Fairy bread!  A favorite!We also enjoyed fairy sprinkles on apple slices and pretzels dipped in peanut butter.

Our Fairy Terrariums - We created a little fairy garden for our houses to sit in and our fairies to enjoy.  The containers are the tops to cheesecakes that I rescued from the kitchen after a wedding.

 

 

Fairy Potions - Also a favorite!  I've been drying flowers for months so we would have fabulous ingredients to use.  We also added glitter and food coloring.

Fairy Bags - I found these in the party aisle of Wal-Mart.  So cute and perfect for this camp.

Summer Camp - Fairies

What a wonderful day full of fairy fun.  My neighbor told me she was surprised and enchanted to look out her window and see fairies flying around the yard.

Fairy Mud - I wasn't sure how our little fairies would feel about this squelchy mud.  It is made up of:  ivory soap flakes, toilet paper and warm colored water...oh and lots of glitter!  One of the fairies jumped right in and helped me mix it, the other fairies kept their distance.

We took our fairy mud to the backyard where it got a bit more play.


Fairy Nails - Fairies need glitter and color!

Fairy Bells - The fairies painted their bell necklaces with fingernail polish as well.  I saw the idea for these necklaces on this blog:  Here!

Fairy Dust - The fairies got to create their own mix of dust today.  They could choose from various colors of glitter and small jewels. 

Fairy Potions - This is always the favorite event.  This year I gathered nature bits from around the yard for the girls to add to their potions.

Snack - We enjoyed fairy dusted apples with our snack today.  Yum!

Fairy Crystals - The fairies painted crystals.

These are borax crystals grown on rocks.  I boiled water and dissolved 3 TBS. of borax per each 1 cup of boiled water.  Then I poured the solution into disposable cups with a rock in the bottom and let them grow for about 24 hours.  I used rocks from the dollar store.  I got the idea from this blog:  Here!

We also painted a bit on the table.

Fairy Houses - Fairy Mud - The afternoon class really enjoyed the fairy mud and created houses for their little fairies.  We ended up making another batch.  The girls added all the remaining fairy dust ingredients to the mud as well.
