Summer Camp - Water

Potions - Color mixing, pouring, stirring ... endless fun!
I often use food coloring for potions but I am finding these bath drops much easier.  The colors mix together really well to produce clear color mixing.  And the kiddos LOVE being able to handle them for themselves.

Matching shoes!

We enjoyed using our water squirters to erase chalk drawings ...

Hot Cocoa - We were a bit chilly waiting for the sun to pop out, so we made a pot of cocoa.  Mmmm.

Summer Camp - Bugs

Kids and bug ... bugs and kids!

We made bug catchers from plastic cups and mesh.  We also enjoyed magnifying glasses to help us inspect our bugs.

We hunted for these little milk jug lady bugs hiding all around the yard.

We talked about the differences between insects and spiders.

We were super excited to find actual insects and spiders!!

We made bug necklaces and enjoyed yummy honey (thanks bees) with our snack.

Summer Camp - Woodland Fairies

Woodland Fairy Habitat - Mr. Adam helped me create these fun fairy teepees.  We also created woodland fairies to live inside them.  The kiddos created the habitat...
I got the idea for the teepees on this blog:  Here!
The maple seeds for the wings and the acorn tops for the hats were just found in our yard.
The glitter stones in the habitats were made with hot glue and glitter, see blog post:  Here
Also in their habitats you'll see left over bits from other projects:  rainbow dyed oatmeal and beans.

Fairy Wings - You've got to have wings when you have a fairy camp!  I found ours at the dollar store (wahoo!).

Ribbon and Flower Table - Here the kiddos could create fairy crowns, bracelets,  anklets, and anything else they could conceive...

Potions - An all time favorite activity...
Plenty of buckets and containers for pouring and mixing, food coloring to dye the water, dried flower petals and imagination...

Snack - Fairy Bread - I butter their bread and the kiddos add the fairy sprinkles.  Another fairy camp favorite.

Summer Camp - Water

I love this camp because it is just water and the kiddos imagination....

Potions - Always a favorite.  I love how this kiddo used a stick to stir his up.  I just saved jars all year long, this way the kiddos could take their potions home if they wanted.

Freezy Pops - Silly me!  I set these out to start thawing a bit.  The kiddos were too excited to wait.  So we started right in on them.  Which was a bit chilly...brrrr.

Pumps for the Pool - I've been saving the pumps from our shampoo and what nots ...  They were great fun in the pool!

Glitter - The glitter for the fairies found it's way into a few potions.  Ha!

Even the pool ended up with some...

Hot Cocoa - Since the sun was taking her own sweet time coming up over the mountains and trees to shine in the backyard, we found we needed some cocoa to warm us up.  Oh, and we enjoyed a few marshmallows too!

Dinosaurs - This kiddo found our bucket of dinosaurs and had so much fun with them in the pool and on the slide!

Summer Camp - Messy Fun

Honestly this is always my favorite summer camp to do.  I enjoy all the others, but this one is so chill and we get to break rules (like eating with our fingers and then playing with our food) and we get super messy!

Spray Chalk -  This was fun!  I think I need to make the colors more vibrant next time by using food coloring instead of paint.  I used the recipe on this blog:  Here!
 It was sprinkling today...
Spraying the bush was fun!  And making letters too!

The liquid chalk that didn't fit in the squirt bottles, I just brought outside too.  The kiddos were trying some color mixing...
We enjoyed spraying but of course it was even more fun to dump it!

Dying Eggs - Every kid I know LOVES to dye eggs, so I thought this would be a perfect addition to our messy camp!  And it was!!

Fingers are way more useful in a project like this than spoons.  And the kiddos were delighted to be using them!
Taa daa!  Aren't they beautiful!

Pudding Painting - Whaaat?!  Yep!  We ate and painted with pudding today!  So tasty and fabulous!
I made a bunny ...  The kiddos found him very tasty ...

Washing Off - And this his how we wash up after such silliness...

Water Jug - I have been looking for a jug that the kiddos could use to get water for themselves in our mud area... And I found it in the laundry room!  Wahoo!  Granted, I got to refill it several times, but no worries.  It was super fun!

We pulled out the slide so we could run water down it.  It made a lovely river and we were so excited when the river ran beyond the gate!

Mud Play - Oh yes!  This is what we have been waiting for...

Colored Water - Potion Play - We LOVE to create potions!  Today was another perfect day for it.  (Just water and food coloring.)

Popping Rice Krispies - Ha!  I forgot how wonderfully they "snap, crackle, and pop!"  The colored water made it a bit more interesting...
I got this great idea from this blog:  Here!

Jell-O - Come now, we couldn't have a messy day without jell-o!  Again, first we munched it, then we played in it...
