Learning Station - Airplane Directions -
The kiddos put on the pilot's head gear, picked a plane and then
listened for directions: "fly your plane upstairs and back down", "fly
your plane under the table", "fly your plane in a circle" ....
Painting Airplanes - After the kiddos followed all their airplane directions, the last was to fly over to the table and paint them.
I saw the idea for constructing these airplanes on this blog: Here!
Zip Line - We did this for the learning station and the kiddos LOVED it, so they continued it through out free play over throughout the week. They used yarn and tape to create zip lines all over the classroom. So fun!
Snack - Zucchini Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins - The kiddos weren't too excited about the zucchini part ... most of them liked the muffins when they were all done though!
Zoom! - The kiddos drew race tracks and zoomed and zipped cars along them. They also created stories to go with their race tracks.
Learning Station andFree Play - Zip Line -
Back by popular request... I left out all our zip line stuff! The
kiddos also got to take home their own zip line robot so they can
continue building zip lines at home! Science - Exploding Ziplocs -
Oh this was fun. The kiddos immediately recognized the ingredients for
volcanoes. Ha! I told them we were going to do the same thing but put
it inside a ziploc!
Our
first couple of tries we used a sandwich size ziploc. Our bags got
very turgid, but they didn't burst! Drat! So next we tried the snack
sized ziploc and that was fabulous! Pop! I saw this on this blog: Here! if you want to try it again at home! Shoveling - I love it when the kiddos shovel the driveway for me!
The
kiddos picked a letter, told me a word that began with it, then zipped
it down the line. Then the kiddos started creating their own zip lines
all around the classroom and on the stairs! I also created robots zip liners with their picture on it so they could take it home to continue the fun.
I found this adorable robot alphabet set on this blog: Here!
Clay Hearts -
Oh dear! They just crumbled as we tried to handle them. Drat! Toss
that recipe out! So we just enjoyed crumbling them to bits.
Tissue Box - Valentine Box -The kiddos decorated their valentine boxes with stickers.
Raining Love - The kiddos added fluff to their clouds and raindrop hearts. I saw this cute idea on this blog: Here!
Valentine Delivery - Oh
so exciting to be able to stuff each other's boxes with love! The
kiddos did a great job of reading each other's names as they delivered.
Journal Time - Donuts - A kiddo brought donuts for her Valentine treat. We decided to spread out the goodies and have a donut with our journals.
Love Books - We created books full of the many things we love...
Heart Wreath - Toddlers -The kiddos added tissue paper squares to their heart.
Journal Time - We cut out a heart and glued it in our journals.
Today is Chinese New Year! And it is the year of the dog!
Science - Weather - Today,
while checking the weather, Gideon reported that it was "at the 0".
Wow, that's freezing! So we decided to test it out. We put a smidge of
water in cups and placed them on the porch to see if they would freeze
during preschool...
Circle Time - China - We found China on the globe. We also refreshed on where Korea is (Olympics) and Hawaii and California and .... Journal Time - Chinese Videos -
We watched the song for 2018, dragon and lion dancers, and listened to
traditional Chinese music. We also munched a few Chinese snacks. And
finally, we watched a video sharing the story of the zodiac.
Red Lanterns - Red and gold are lucky colors. We made globe lanterns (we painted cereal boxes red last week.) We added gold glitter. Science - Freezing - It worked! Wow! Brrrr!
The
kiddos greatly enjoyed pushing the pom poms through the funnel. They
cracked me up though, because they flipped the funnel and preferred it
that way. Ha!
Journals - A kiddo, who LOVES lions, made this adorable lion in her journal.
Walk the Lines - Just a bit of silliness.
Letter Writing - The kiddos wrote letters to each other, then we took them out to the
mailbox for our postman to pick up!
Snack - Ll - Licorice and Lemon Lime Kool-Aid - The kiddos had to make an L from their licorice before they could eat it.
Ll Clothing - Lines - A hat and a dress!
Lines - We had a birthday today and she brought yummy cupcakes with LINES on them!
Doily Lions -The kiddos created very cute lions!
Lollipop Making - Just jolly ranchers in the oven on a low temperature for 10 minutes or so and taa daa! Lollipops!
All done! I just need to roll the lollipop sticks in them...
Paper Plate Lollipops - Youngsters - Once they dried we added a swirl on them. We also ate a lollipop after we finished painting.
True Confession - Ms. Sara LOVES the Olympics. So we spent Friday celebrating the start of the winter Olympics.
Circle Time - I showed the kiddos on the globe where the Winter Olympics are this year.
Journal Time -The
kiddos colored in the Olympic Rings. There are 5 rings, symbolizing
the 5 continents that compete and including the colors from all the
flags.
Free Play - Olympic Watching -I
put a variety of winter Olympic events on the laptop for the kiddos to
watch. Their favorites were figure skating and the video of epic
Olympic crashes.
A few comments from the kiddos as they watched:
Figure skating: "It's called ice skating, but Ms. Sara calls it figure skating." "Wow! He just threw her in the air!!"
Snowboard Halfpipe: "He was holding onto the board..." "...and flipping!!" "I like the guy from Norway!"
Mogels: "Wow, wow, wow! I'm the biggest fan of this!" "Go, go, go, go ... don't crash!"
Snack - Cheeto Torch - Before we knew it, the clock said 11:00 and we hadn't done any of our Olympic projects or activities yet! Yikes!
Figure Skating - Wax Paper - The kiddos had a blast skating around the classroom, especially after having watched figure skating.
