Learning Station - Egg Count

The kiddos found matching egg halves (one had a numeral and the other half had dots) then counted out that many beans into the egg.
Talking about oviparous animals today (egg laying animals) this kiddos below had one of our plastic beetles helping him at the learning station today.

Saint Patrick's Day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Leprechaun Poop! - A naughty leprechaun left treats for us all over the floor of the preschool!  Fortunately leprechauns poop tic tacs, did you know?

Nail Polish - I pulled out some green nail polish, just in case any of the kiddos might want green nails, many did!

Green Hunt - I had the kiddos hunt through out the preschool for anything green.  I meant for them to find toys (left) but they also found the shamrocks I hid (right).

Following the Rainbow to Gold! - A leprechaun left us a rainbow trail to follow to his pot of gold!
Along the trail we had to stop and do some tricks...

Here it is!  The pot of gold!  But what's inside?.... Popcorn!

The kiddos loved this hunt.  Some of them did it over again.

Shamrock Wreaths - The kiddos made green collage wreaths, hope you enjoy them!
One kiddo thought the wreath made a great hat.  It did fit rather nicely.

Spoon Leprechauns - I saw these online (on this blog)and they just cracked me up, so we had to make them.
I told the kiddos that these leprechauns can be a bit tricky, and they like to hide.  Here is my leprechaun hiding outside on the porch.  We'll see if the kiddos find him tomorrow.

Shamrock Buddies -

Adding to our Saint Patrick Day celebrations, we enjoyed a bit of fun with rainbows today.

Rainbow Cookies - I made the dough earlier this morning, then the kiddos got to squish in the different colors.  I put equal parts of dough in 6 baggies, then we squirted food coloring in and squished and squished.

Once the colors were mixed, we rolled them into snakes and smooshed them together on the pan.
Our rainbow cookies turned out great and were super tasty.  I cut them vertically so that each kiddo got every color of the rainbow.

3-D Rainbows - A bit more rainbow fun.  This activity took a bit of agility, but once we got the hang of bending feet on our paper strips and gluing them down, we got more creative.

Learning Station - Letter Writing Practice

This week we finished up all the letters of the alphabet (we've been doing one a week).  So I was curious how they would do at writing each of the letters.  They did great!

Friday - Toddlers - Space

Here is what we were up to today in the toddler class...

Space Mural - The kiddos put their name together (with a bit of help) then we glued them into a rocket, added some star stickers and a planet.

Moon Dust - Dyed Salt & Glitter - The kiddos loved driving the trucks and scooping our dust today.

Tp Rockets - I taped together this simple rocket des

A bit more on Space

Tea Bag Rocket - I saw this online and had to try it out this week.  First we talked a bit about fire safety and how matches (and fire in general) was just for grown up.  Then we tried it out.  I cut the top off an herbal tea bag, dumped the contents, then lit the top.
Our first couple of attempts was just flame, the tea bag didn't "take off."  Then suddenly our third try worked!  We were so excited we did the experiment several more times.  Some tries worked and some didn't, but it was still cool.  I found the idea for this rocket on this blog.

Tp Rockets - After our tea bag experiment, I dumped out our bucket of tp rolls and set the kiddos to work on creating their own rockets.  Here are a few of our rockets...

Alka Seltzer Rockets - Yahoo for messy rockets!  I put an alka seltzer tablet in a film canister with some water, gave it a shake, then set it down on it's lid and moved back.  POP!
