Mm Week

Welcome to Mm week!

Feely Bag - Mm Week - Moon, marble, mouse, moose, monkey and make-up brush.

Free Play - Marble run! - Drat!  I didn't take any pictures!

Minions - We just had to make a minion for Mm week!  These turned out super cute!  I saw these on this blog:  HERE!

Bread Tag Monsters - Thanks for saving these!  The kiddos enjoyed making a monster army.  The kiddos picked out the tags, placed the eyes (I glued them on with hot glue) then they added a mouth, fangs, etc. with a Sharpie.  When they were done, the kiddos gathered their monsters and put them in an envelope to take home.

Tissue Box Monster Feet - Always a hit!  The kiddos stomped around smooshing buildings (cereal boxes) it was great fun.

Matchbox Monsters - The kiddos made their own critters to fit in their boxes.  We ended up with a bunch of princesses, cats, and superheroes ... no monsters.  Ha!

I covered small matchboxes with scrap paper and cut craft sticks to fit.

Snow Cave -

Maps! - Right after we finished our matchbox people/critters, we pulled out some maps (scrapbook paper I found on clearance).  The kiddos marked an X for treasure and drew traveling routes.  They even pulled out their matchbox people/critters to play along.

Party! - A few kiddos set up a party but their friends were too busy playing to attend, so the stuffed animals came instead.

Snack - Milkshakes - Yum!

Backyard! - Snow - Wahooo!  It's been way too long since we've played back here.  The sun was calling us and we couldn't resist.

 We discovered deer tracks!
We were excited to discover that our sand trucks work just great in the snow!

Circle Time - M&Ms -  A kiddo brought M&Ms to share   Mmmm yum!  Thanks!

Journal Time - Mustache Silliness - I got fuzzy mustaches for the kiddos to put in their journals.  The girls decided to wear them first!  None of the boys were interested in sporting theirs.  Ha!

Colorful Mustaches - The kiddos posed for pictures.  They also got to take a set home to amuse their families with.  - This is from a stamp set from Stampin' Up.

Iced Bucket - One of the kiddos came up with a great idea for freeing our bucket that was stuck in ice!  She suggested hot water!  It worked great!  She got it out, but then there was ice frozen inside as well.  We began to melt the ice inside the bucket, but alas, it was time to head home before we finished.

Muffins - We also made muffins this week and read "If you give a moose a muffin", but sadly I didn't get any pictures!

Sunshine Shirt - This kiddo tye-dyed his preschool shirt!  Ha!

Journal Time - Mm Week - Minion band-aids, monster stickers, moon stamp, money, monster paper, monkey stickers, measuring masking tape, mustaches - so much Mm fun in our journals this week!

The Aftermath - Add in our cereal box collection and using paper bits for our big recycling trucks - Yowza!  But we had fun this week.

Learning Station - Magnetic Wands

The kiddos did an investigation, searching for things that were magnetic.  It's always interesting to discover metal that isn't magnetic.  That throws the kiddos off!

The kiddos counted foam shapes with the aid of a number line.  I used the printed masking tape for the number line.

Learning Station - Measuring

The kiddos practiced measuring.  We did this a bit back in the fall when Ii was for inch.  They enjoyed measuring with different tools:  tape measure, Ikea measure strip, or our masking tape measure.  They worked on this for quite some time.

Boxes Week

Since we have a short week this week and we also have a ton of boxes, I figured it was time to put them to good use.  A big thank you to all my box collectors!  Welcome to box week!

Cereal Box Jet Packs - First the kiddos designed the control panel of their jet packs.  Next they added flames out of the bottom.  Then they tried them on and blasted off!

This is a teacher intensive activity with a lot of prep work, but it was fun and the kiddos LOVE their jet packs.  So totally worth the extra time.

I made this control panel sheet on Word...
Ahead of time I cut holes in the bottom of the cereal boxes and taped the tp tubes in.  Then I shored up the boxes with extra packing tape.  I also should have put on the straps, but I wanted the kiddos to choose their colors so I did that real time.
Here are the duct tape straps.  I found several different versions of this project online, I like the duct tape straps best.

Nutella? - I was telling the kiddos what the different kinds of nuts were that we had left over from Nn week to crack .  We had:  walnut, almonds, Brazilian nuts and hazel nuts.  With the hazel nuts I asked if anyone had eaten Nutella, then told them hazel nuts and chocolate make up Nutella.

A couple kiddos set to work trying to create some of their own Nutella.  They cracked all the hazel nuts and then asked for some chocolate, I pulled out milk chocolate chips.  Then they mushed those together ...  and taadaa!  Nutella for everyone!

Trash Trucks - The preschool was given 3 wonderful trash trucks and boy were they a hit today!  We needed trash for our truck to carry, so we crumpled up bits of paper.

Cereal Box Stacking And Crashing! - Oh, so much fun!  The kiddos greatly enjoyed stacking the boxes and then kicking or punching them down.  The boxes stack a bit precariously, so they take more care but they stack tall much quicker than blocks.

Cereal Box Car Ramps - We began by creating this fabulous ramp then we quickly added a few more ramps on the stairs as friends came and joined us.
