Summer Camp - Space

Mission Control has instructed us to explore a newly discovered planet.  Before we can leave we must prepare our gear and eat a good snack...

Jet Packs - NASA has provided us with jet packs to help us explore...

There are tons of these on Pinterest, this is the blog I mostly followed:  Here!

I had friends and preschool moms saving 2 liter bottles, 1 can of spray paint lightly covered 24 bottles and a light circle on the kid's paper bag helmets (below).
The Sprite bottles look the best best (4 at the far right)...
Here they are with their cardboard backs, elastic arm bands, and felt flames.
Kiddos decorating...

They worked great for all ages...

Paper Bag Helmets - This was quick and easy.  I quick spray of a circle, then a trim off the bottom.

A few of the kiddos wanted a microphone for their helmets, so we added a pipe cleaner with a pom pom on it.  Such a cute idea, thanks kiddos!

Science Satchel - We decide that we will want a way to carry our samples from the planet...   Satchels at work, full of space rocks and who knows what else...

For each kiddo I used 2 felt squares.  I trimmed 3" off of one, then sewed around it adding ribbon.  Next time I think I'll add a bit of velcro for a closure...

Space Ship - We left our space station (classroom) to travel to the outer reaches of our galaxy...  While traveling we watch a training video (YouTube videos from space:  how to eat, sleep, etc. while in space)...

Space Snack - Dehydrated fruit, pudding in a bag and Tang in a bag...
For the pudding, I followed the instructions on this blog: Here!   For the tang, I simply followed the instructions for 1 serving.

Mission - Explore New Planet - With our gear ready and our tummies full.... we head into the unknown...We collected space rocks ...

Space Dust - The kiddos carefully collected samples of this fascinating dust.

The dust is just salt dyed with black food coloring and a bunch of silver glitter and star glitter.
Some kiddos spent most of their time playing with this.

Aliens! - We discovered these curious little critters.  We decided we needed to create a habitat for them so we could bring them home for closer inspection...

These cute aliens are made from pencil grips I found at the dollar store (pack of 6).

White rocks also from the dollar store, space dust, and moon rocks...

Space Shoes - We tried out walking on different planet surfaces... the egg cartons helped us try that out....

I saw this great idea on this blog:  Here!

Chalk - Rocket ship ...
A sun complete with solar flares and sun spots!

Ms. Sara as an astronaut ...
