Ss Week

Welcome to our sunshiny, silly Ss week!

Feely Bag - Ss - snake, spider, sun, star, strawberry, sea lion.

Journal Time - Ss Week - sparkles (nail polish), silly Ms. Sara, square, shark, skull, superhero, star, snowflake, snack (fruit snack).

Rolly-polly - These little critters are the best!  The kiddos were super excited to find one today.

Journal Time - Sparkles - I pulled out all my sparkly nail polish so we could brush some in our journals, and on our nails if we wanted.

Free Play - Ms. Sara found a couple of fans at the dollar store, they were quite the hit today.

Stuck - This is one of our favorite books.  In the book, a boy named Floyd gets his kite stuck in the tree.  He then spends the rest of the book trying to get it out by throwing various things into the tree.  We decided we would make our own Stuck tree.

I just pulled various items from my supplies to put in our trees.

Science - Silly Putty - Today we tried a new recipe.  Once we got it figured out, it was pretty fun to squish and play with.  But we had a gooey start.

Recipe:  ~4 TBS. cornstarch and ~3 TBS. dish soap - I got this recipe from this blog:  Here.

Bent Fork Spiders -We made some fearsome spiders today with large fangs.  Watch out!  The fangs are a bent plastic fork.  I found this idea on this blog:  Here.
We chatted a bit about spiders, reminding each other of the awesome things we know.  Then the kiddos got to work.

Here are the older kiddo's spiders...

Super Star Shirt - This kiddo wore the perfect shirt for our Ss week!

Circle Time - Ss week - Look what two kiddos found on their shoes!  Perfect for our Ss week!

Science - Solid to Liquid (or goo) - Time for some yummy science.  How could we turn the solid chocolate chips into a gooey treat?  Hmm ...  Heat!  Yum!
S'mores! - I stuck them in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes, worked great!
We decided to do one more experiment with solid to liquid.  Birthday candles!  We watched it melt.  Heat again changed it!

Necktie Snakes - We chatted about snakes:  where they live, what they eat, how they are cold-blooded and need sunshine to warm them.  Then we made a snake pet of our own!

I was going to have the kiddos stuff their snakes, but I was afraid that would take too much time, so we left them un-stuffed.  I like them better this way!  The kiddos could easily wrap their snake around themselves and quickly slither them across the floor.  Also, they take up less room, which I'm guessing moms would like.
After our previous sewing projects, two kiddos wanted the chance to sew stitches on their snake.  Sure!

Snack - With Our Snakes - Watch out!  Turns our our snakes were so hungry!

Backyard - Shaving Cream - So much fun!  They buried the dinosaurs, painted and washed a few things.

Chalk Art - This kiddo drew a wonderful mermaid.  I am always amazed, each year, with how much growth and development each kiddo undergoes.  I love it!

Sunny Day Painting - Toddlers - The kiddos got to paint a blue wash on a sunshine picture.  They really enjoyed the painting.

Stairs - Race Tracks - Toddlers -  With the rain outside, the kiddos needed another way to release their wiggles!  So I pulled out our favorite car track made from cereal boxes.  The best use of stairs and boxes!  The kiddos raced and raced their cars down the stairs.  So fun!

Twinkle Star Buddies - We wanted to put glitter on our stars, but didn't want to have to let them dry all weekend.  So Ms. Sara pulled back out the nail polish.
I loved how this kiddo put make-up on her star.
