Week 1 of Halloween Fun!

Welcome to week 1 of Halloween fun!  We'll review our letters and enjoy some spooky fun.

Outside - The kiddos discovered the spooky eyes on the house and the ghosts in the trees and the spider webs.

Circle Time - Ghost Story - The momma ghost goes grocery shopping, but before she leaves she warns her kiddo ghosts not to eat anything that's not white.  Of course they do, and they turn colors.  When momma ghost returns, she has to give her kiddos something white to eat to fix them.  The kiddos came up with all sorts of crazy things to eat.  We told the story over and over again.

Circle Time - Halloween Feely Bag 1

Cheese Cloth Ghosts - Day 1 - Today the kiddos soaked their cloth in liquid starch, then arranged it over their balloon.  Now they are drying.
Day 2 - We added faces today.  They turned out pretty cute, although I think we should have done a couple layers of the cloth to make them stronger.

Napkin Ghosts - I love these traditional ghosts! The kiddos flew their ghosts around the preschool.

Snack - Ghost Bananas - Oooo...  Mini chocolate chips.

Zip Line Ghosts - We took our napkin ghosts, put a paper clip on them and zipped them down our line.  Great fun!

Dress Up - Halloween - The kiddos were excited to find witch hats and a cauldron in the dress up box.

Monster House - Now it has a mouth!

Circle Time - Continuing our Halloween "study" we learned about spiders today.  We talked about their anatomy:  2 body parts, 8 legs, 1 to 8 eyes, feel vibrations and taste with their feet, two basic kinds of spiders: web builders and hunters ...

Science - Spider Dinner - We talked about how and what spiders eat.  Web building spiders wait for dinner to land on their web, they feel the vibrations with their feet, zip out and wrap them up and bite them with poison.  Their poison immobilized them and turns their innards to soup.  When the spider is ready to eat, they simply suck up their dinner.  Slurp.  The kiddos tried their hand had wrapping up dinner....
 Nice wrapping...

Spider Web - Craft Sticks - Next we tried building a web.  Since we aren't as gifted as spiders, we used sticks to help get the shape of our web.We even had some flies to catch in our webs.

Milk Jug Lid Spiders - Ok, these perhaps look more like aliens then spiders, but they were fun to make and they sat well on our spider webs.

Web Rescue - While we were eating snack, a spider caught a few of our stuffed animals in it's web.  We had to go to the rescue, but we needed to be careful.  We didn't want to touch any of the web (yarn) or the spider would feel our vibrations and get us too!

After a few rescues, the kiddos decided to add the the webbed hallway.

The kiddos also grabbed a few more stuffed animals to wrap up and trap in the web.

Tp Bats - For the toddlers, I prepped the bats fully.
The preschoolers created their own wings...

Bat Wings - Made from a drawstring trash bag, so very fun.  They fly great outside!
