Hh Week!

Welcome to Hh week! - Hi!  Howdy!  Hello!  -  Hh is a very friendly letter.

Circle Time - We discussed our letter Hh and the fabulous sounds it makes.  We also came up with several Hh words!  Then we pulled a few Hh items out of our bag.  We also practiced sign language for the letter Hh.

Journal Time - Hh - We wrote and glued and stamped and stickered...

Free Play - Hammering and heart punching ...

Harmonica - Can you hear the wonderful sound?  This really works and it makes delightful sounds that I'm sure the parents are going to love.  I found this fabulous idea at this source:  HERE!  There is a rubber band around (lengthwise) the bottom jumbo craft stick.  It vibrates when the kiddos blow on their harmonica.

Heart Painting - The kiddos painted these lovely hearts and turned them into hugs!
The hearts are cereal boxes and the arms are paper scraps.

Sesame Street - I was so excited when I found this tape this summer!  We listened to silly letter songs during our free play.  Ah, the memories!

Hide and Seek! - Hh week is a perfect time to play this!

Measuring Hair - We measured our hair with yarn today, then checked it's length on the ruler.  A little silly, but lots of fun and learning!

Cash Register - The preschool got a cash register this year, it was a hit today.  The kiddos LOVED pushing the buttons, which beep, and got especially excited when the drawer popped open.

Circle Time - Happy! - We sang "If you're happy and you know it..." and made silly, happy faces.  We also sang the "Hokey Pokey".

Baking Biscuits - Now those are Bb words, not Hh words!  But we wanted to eat honey for our Hh week, so we decided to make something yummy to put it on. We made heart shaped biscuits and the kiddos chose to dye them pink.

Science - Heart Beats - I asked the kiddos if they knew what the very big muscle that worked all day and all night to pump blood around their body was.  They guessed right!  Our heart!  Next I asked where their heart was.  Most kiddos knew, but one kiddo insisted it was in her tummy area.  So we performed an experiment:  we did jumping jacks and hopped to get our hearts racing.  Then we found them in our body:  our chest!

I told the kiddos that they could also feel their heart beat on their wrist, but it was not as obvious.  I told them to look super close for the small movement at the end of the toothpick...that was their heart beat!  They thought that was cool, but they were concerned about the marshmallows, so of course we had to eat some.

I found this great idea at this source:  HERE!
