Liquid Chalk - So fun! Here's the recipe:
1 16 oz box of cornstarch
2 ½ cups water
Food coloring or powdered tempera paint
Stir past the ooblek stage and it'll become like milk. I poured it into a muffin tin, then added the coloring. The chalks will need occasional stirring.
Glitter Fingernail Polish - We went all glam with our camp this week.
Fairy Crowns - I used brown paper grocery sacks. Cut the bottoms off, rolled down the sides then hot glued flowers.
Fairy Potions - Great with real flower petals and leaves.
Flying Fairies -
Fairy Bite Cookies - I found the recipe: HERE!
Frozen Chalks - I froze some of the liquid chalk from yesterday. It was fun to play with, but a bit cold to actually draw with.
A fairy door - The kiddos discover a fairy door in the yard. They opened it, but couldn't see the fairy's house, because we aren't fairies!
Fairy Doors - I cut craft sticks in half and used a black bean for the doorknob. The kiddos watercolor painted their doors.
To cut the sticks in half I used this cool tool. My hubby got it for me, online somewhere. I love it! You could also buy the smaller craft sticks or use the regular ones. I just liked the doors smaller and they fit the size of our fairies.
Fairy Houses - I used Dial soap boxes, glued a 3x5 card on for the roof and cut a fairy sized door.
They turned out super cute! I grew boxes of grass (started about 7 weeks ago). The grass grew poorly, that's probably my brown thumb. But the kiddos LOVED the boxes and enjoyed putting their fairy house in them and adding decorations.
We used glass pebbles, nature bits, silk flowers, drink umbrellas...
Fairy Snack - Fairy popcorn and fairy bread!
Fairy bread is a family favorite: just butter the bread and add sprinkles.
Fairies - I used old fashioned clothespins that my hubby cut off the bottom (they were cheaper then the short pegs). Then I added felt wings and silk flower petals. The kiddos added faces and hair to them.
This kiddo added acorn hats and created a fairy boat from walnut shells.
Feeding Ants - The kiddos gleefully discovered this ant family. They wanted to feed them, so we gave them a few fairy bite cookies. The ants loved them.
Fairy Portions - The kiddos enjoyed filling each cup with potion.
Yes! A kiddo finally got into the mud!
Bubbles -
My favorite bubble solution recipe is:
12 cups warm water
1 16 oz. corn syrup
1 30 oz. bottle of Joy liquid dish soap
Water Painting - Such a fun thing to do! We loved painting over the chalk drawings from previous days.
Fairy Bells - The kiddos discover my fairy bells. I put them in the tree to attract fairies. They got to make some too. We used colorful yarn and sticks from around the yard.
Fairy Dust - The kiddos enjoyed filling their little containers with dust (sugar and food coloring). Perhaps I should have gotten the kiddos larger containers. I found these little containers in a 6 pack at the dollar store.
Fairy Wands - The kiddos tied ribbons onto sticks to create wands. The loved twirling them around.
Bean Bin - It was plenty hot outside today, so we stayed in a little longer and played. The kiddos enjoyed digging in the bean bin.
Cleaning the Slide - This kiddo greatly enjoyed cleaning off the slide with a squirt bottle.
Mr. Potato Head - Cleaning up the preschool today I saw this cheery face peeking out at me. It just cracked me up.
