Journal Time - Chinese New Year, Xx, and Valentines...
Chinese Lanterns - The kiddos did their own cutting on these! Once our lanterns were put together, we painted them with red glitter.
This was great cutting practice for the younger kiddos, the older ones did just great.
Snack - Chinese New Year - I should have had oranges instead of apples, drat! The kiddos tried eating their noodles with chopsticks...
While eating lunch we watch Chinese dragon dancers...
Guest - A mom came to talk to us about her Chinese culture and Chinese New Year. She brought the kiddos red envelopes, oranges and told the story of the Chinese Zodiac. -- Thank you so much Daisy!
Chinese Fireworks - Well, sort of. Pop its!
A Day with the letter Xx.
Circle Time - Body Letters - An x to easy to make, but how about other letters? We tried T, L, O, I, U and V...
X-Rays - We talked about x-rays and heard who had experienced them. Then I showed them my daughter's x-rays from the two times she broke an arm. We looked at the bones and found the breaks. We also looked at pictures of x-rays online. Then we created our own x-rays.
The kiddos could draw bones or create them with Q-tips. The "x-rays" consist of file folders and wax paper.
Free Play - I set out the makings for valentines at the art table all week...
X Snack - Before the kiddos could munch, they had to show me an x.
Our day full of Valentines!
Valentine Bags - Youngsters - The kiddos enjoyed decorating their bags with all sorts of hearts...
Delivering! ....
The preschoolers painted cereal boxes that we made into totes. Unfortunately we ran out of time to decorate them. Hopefully they'll do that at home.
Chalk In Snow - We discovered that sidewalk chalk writes in the snow. What fun!
