Some more on spiders...

Webs - Midway through the week we began our study on the webs that spiders create.  The kiddos were excited to come into the preschool and discover that a spider or too had been busy in our classroom...
A web in our circle time area (masking tape)  and one in our door way (yarn).  Wow!

Climbing Spiders - I found these cool climbing spiders on this blog:   All for the boys.  The kiddos enjoyed them, though they were a bit teacher intensive to put together.

When the kiddos pulled the two strings apart the spider climbs up!

Glue Webs - This is one of my favorite activities.  The day before, I create a glue web (Elmer's glue) on cardstock.  When it's all dry I set out the water color paints and have the kiddos discover the hiding web.

Paper Plate Webs - This is another favorite.  Just simple notch around the edge of a paper plate, tape the end of a piece of yarn on the back and then set the kiddos free to weave their own web!

Below are a couple of my threes at work.  I love the mass of ring spiders!

Helicopters! - Aka:  Maple Seeds - We are fortunate enough to have a maple tree that sheds these wonderful maple seed helicopters each fall.  Myself and the kiddos love to throw these up and watch them twirl back down.

Sticky Tape Web - Using masking tape again, I created for the kiddos a web in the doorway.  Then we threw paper balls (insects) at it to see what would get stuck and eaten!

Pumpkins!  -  Yahoo!  One of our local grocery stores (Ream's) had pumpkins on sale for $ 0.09/lb.!  So we are all set for when we study pumpkins later in the month!

Learning Station - Today's learning station was a bit of a surprise.  Apparently our class spider was playing around in the preschool and set up the learning station for the kiddos!  He spun a web for them and then stuck all the letters of their names in it!  If the kiddos followed the web, all the letters of their name were in order.  They tucked them into their envelope as they found them.

Lid Spiders - These were cute to make.  I think googly eyes would have been better, but the kiddos drew their eyes on with sharpies.

Spider Snacks - We made webs with cooked spaghetti noodles and spider olives on day.  Here is a Ritz cracker spider with Chinese noodle legs and craisin eyes.
